The Quest for Ujasiri Decoder

Thank you so much for setting out on this exciting journey with your son! We hope it's fun and engaging...and challenging!

We Are Here to Help

We've intentionally designed this experience to be fun and interactive with hidden clues all long the way. And, sometimes you might just need a little nudge to keep you headed in the right direction.

Use this website to help you get unstuck as you work through your explorers box. This should only be used as a last resort. Before getting a hint here, see if Agent Jarvis can help first.

The dropdowns below are designed to give you only one hint at a time. That way the experience continues to be a fun challenge!

PRO TIP #1

Having trouble opening the locks?

Make sure to enter the code on the side of the lock with the beveled indicator line. This is where the numbers need to align. You know you are looking at it correctly if the button to open it is on the left, as pictured here.

Start with Agent Jarvis

Agent Jarvis is here to help, and yet you might not always know where to find him! Here are a few clues to help you "text a friend" for a helpful hint along the way.

AGENT JARVIS CAN BE TEXTED AT 970-447-1500

At the bottom of the page of the letter is the special code to text to Conrad for help at this stage. That code is JARVISSTART.

Look closely on the bottom of the recipe card. You will find the code JARVISTEA.

In the middle of the page on the right, above the Mandazi cooking video, you'll see the code JARVISMANDAZI.

Unroll the legend, and read all the way through. At the very bottom is the Jarvis code. JARVISROCK

Look at the bottom of the instructions of how to crack open your own Tanzanite!

JARVISHEARTSTONE

Turned sideways on the back of the Fire and Dance card is the Jarvis code.

JARVISFIRE

All the way at the very bottom of the page is where you can find Jarvis this time!

JARVISDANCE

Great job! You made it this far! Well done!

The last Jarvis clue is on the back of the Lion card.

JARVISBONE

If you are still stuck after texting Agent Jarvis, see below for help

Use the following dropdowns to get help with the specific section you're stuck on. These clues are in the order they should be pursued in the quest.

On the back of the SSOSA Letter you will find two columns of letters. These are curious, aren't they?

Also, inside the cover of the "Dictionary" you will find a brown envelope marked "CONFIDENTIAL." Here you will find a decoder. Place the letter on a table, and then line up the columns of letters with the columns of codes. This is Morse Code.

At the top of the back side of the TOP SECRET card is a series of dots and dashes, separated by a slash "/". Decode the dots and dashes. This will lead to your first clue, which is....

"First clue is 570"

Use 570 to open the Book Safe

Use the invisible ink pen to shine the light on the inside cover of the book safe. You should find the word "mandazi" written.

Mandazi are a special Kenyan donuts you get to make together!

You will see on the bottom of Raphael's invitation a URL with blank spaces. The word "mandazi" goes into those spaces. This leads to a website.

[HINT] Use lower case letters when trying to navigate to a website.

https://www.restorationproject.net/mandazi

After you've read the site, watched the videos, and hopefully enjoyed your Goat's Milk Tea and Mandazi, you are ready for the next clue.

At the bottom of the Mandazi website you will find a verse from Deuteronomy. Read the verse together, and then use the numbers (i.e. the "address") of the verse to open one of the locked treasure boxes.

There are three such locks, and the numbers show on both sides of the lock. Be sure to work from the side where there is a grooved line through the numbers to show you where to align them to open the lock.

The code to open the next lock is 316. You will need to try the locks to see which treasure box it opens.

The clue that got you here was Deuteronomy 31:6.

Now you get to read The Legend of Jiwelamoyo. This is about the Maasai found their very precious gem. At the bottom of the page is a URL. Somewhere in the text is an underlined word. Translated, this word means "heart stone."

Knowing that what is on the inside is more important than what is on the outside, the Maasai talk about how the "heart stone" is one of the most important aspects of a warrior.

Use the Swahili word for "heart stone" in the URL to go to the next step.

JIWELAMOYO.

www.restorationproject.net/jiwelamoyo

After learning about Kenyan Tanzanite, break open the geode and see what you can find. Talk about how God put something amazing on the inside even when the outside looks normal.

At the bottom of the webpage another Bible verse all Maasai Warriors need to memorize. But this time, there's no code telling you where it's from! You might have to look a little harder.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. Buried on the footer is the reference: Psalm 27:1.

The code for the next lock is 271, which opens the zipper bag.

Congratulations! You've made it this far! Well done!

Hopefully you enjoyed cracking open your own Tanzanite. We bet you have wondered from the beginning what that sock was for!

This next clue is probably the hardest among them all.

All Maasai Warriors do two things...build fires, and do the special Maasai Dance. Now it's your turn!

On the back of the Fire and Dance card is a scramble of letters. At least it looks like a scramble. But what happens if instead of starting at the top, you start at the bottom and read it backwards? You should start to see a secret message that starts with:

"If you want to find the next clue..."

You will learn you need to learn the Swahili word for "fire."

Take the numbers on the card, and counting backwards from the bottom where the secret message starts (i.e. start counting like this:

  • I=1
  • F=2
  • Y=3
  • O=4
  • U=5 ... and so on.

Find the 62nd letter, then the 4th letter, then the 9th letter, then the 77th letter.

  • 62=M
  • 4=O
  • 9=T
  • 77=O

The Swahili word for "fire" is "moto!"

Plug that into the URL at the bottom of the card, and away you go!

www.restorationproject.net/moto

Hopefully you had a blast seeing how high you could jump! Be sure to send us videos and pictures...we want to see your progress as an SSOSA agent.

We have also provided you with two different ways to start a fire without matches or a lighter. These are crucial skills for a Maasai Warrior!

Below the videos showing you how to use the materials to make fire, you will find special instructions for how the Maasai do it with sticks. Click on that link. Have fun, but be sure to be careful and only build a fire with an adult outside!

What happens if you do have an emergency and need to call for help? What three numbers do you find at the top of these instructions?

If you ever need help, call 911.

And that is your next clue to open the final wooden box. The code for the last lock is 911.

CONGRATULATIONS! You received the hand-carved shard of a lion's bone. This is a precious item for all Maasai Warriors! Wear it with pride.

And yes! There is one final clue.

You will find in the Lion's Mane another Morse Code clue...to take you all the way back to the beginning.

Use the SSOSA Letter and the decoder to get the final clue.

Plug that clue into the website provided, and you'll keep going!

The codeword is: COURAGE

Though the Quest for Ujasiri has officially come to an end, the SSOSA has a LOT more for you to explore in the future. Be prepared...you never know when another quest will appear at your door!

In total, there are 6 Restoration Explorer boxes for fathers and sons. And this is just the first! Good SSOSA members know that everything is connected. On this final page is a final clue. Collect these from each of the experiences, and when you've completed all 6 of the quests, you will have one final clue for a big surprise.

Look at the image of the Kenyan flag. Notice any letters that stand out? You might want to save the letter "K" and "A" for a clue in the future!

Thanks for joining us on this adventure!
